Hong Hwa Yeon Discusses Her Character In "Buried Hearts," How She Prepared For The Role, And Her Future Ambitions
Hong Hwa Yeon has sat down with Singles Korea for a pictorial and interview! In the interview that followed the shoot, Hong Hwa Yeon discussed her interpretation of the character Yeo Eun Nam from the upcoming drama “Buried Hearts.” She described the character, saying, “On the outside, she looks cold and like a femme fatale, but I think she’s a character that represents an ordinary woman of today’s era. She has a lot in common with me too. Yeo Eun Nam is an independent character who doesn’t rely on others, and I am also the type to immediately act on what I’ve decided. When asked about the differences between herself and Eun Nam, she humorously remarked, “Yeo Eun Nam is more calm, mature, and carries the vibe of a wealthy person.” Reflecting on her preparation for such a complex, multi-dimensional character, the actress shared, “I referred a lot to Carrie Bradshaw, the main character from ‘Sex and the City.’ While the tone of the show may be different, I felt that [Carrie] is deeply sincere in love and continually shapes her life through her own choices, which I thought is very similar to Eun Nam.” The conversation also turned to Hong Hwa Yeon’s personal life. When asked about her current concerns, she replied with a lighthearted answer, saying, “I don’t have many worries. Today’s biggest concern is what to eat later.” Looking ahead to future roles, she expressed interest in challenging herself with a new genre. She shared, “I’d like to try the role of an independence activist. I want to immerse myself in the emotions of the independence activists of that era and express my gratitude through sharing their emotions.” When asked about her ambitions for 2025, she reflected with a healthy sense of self-love. She answered, “Of course, I need to improve in many areas, but I don’t want to change drastically.” She further elaborated, “I like myself just the way I am. In that sense, I don’t want to change. However, I do hope to become a little less lazy and a bit more wise.” Hong Hwa Yeon’s full pictorial and interview can be found in the March issue of Singles Korea.
