Ju Ji Hoon, Choo Young Woo, And Ha Young Dish On Their Upcoming Drama “The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call”
Ju Ji Hoon, Choo Young Woo, and Ha Young recently sat down with Harper’s Bazaar Korea to discuss their upcoming Netflix drama “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call”! Based on a popular webtoon, “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call” is a medical drama that tells the exhilarating story of Baek Kang Hyuk, a genius surgeon who once roamed the battlefield, as he takes on the mission of reviving a defunct and neglected Severe Trauma Care team. Ju Ji Hoon, who plays Baek Kang Hyuk, shared his thoughts on the series, saying, “In a nutshell, it’s a refreshing and exhilarating story. It’s the kind of drama that makes you think, ‘I wish someone like this existed in real life.’” Speaking about working with rookie actors Choo Young Woo, Ha Young, and Jung Jae Kwang, Ju Ji Hoon said, “I was the oldest on set, so I knew that if I slacked off, everyone else would too. It made me realize how much effort senior actors have put in for me in the past. I tried to openly discuss ideas with the director and the younger actors, and sometimes our meetings would go on for seven hours. I know how intimidating it can be to voice your thoughts as a rookie, so I made a conscious effort to avoid creating a stiff atmosphere.” Choo Young Woo, who portrays Yang Jae Won, an elite doctor who follows Baek Kang Hyuk to the trauma team, reflected on his experience. He shared, “Saving lives is such a noble act. Even though I only experienced it indirectly, I approached each moment with sincerity. I also became more expressive in my reactions. Ju Ji Hoon constantly monitored and guided me, helping me shape the character based on the webtoon.” Ha Young, who plays senior nurse Cheon Jang Mi, spoke about her character, saying, “Just like her nickname ‘Gangster,’ Jang Mi does whatever it takes to ensure the trauma center’s survival. The director wanted me to channel my natural, easygoing personality and bring more energy to the role, so I added a brighter side to the character. There were times I rubbed my face or ran around sweating. The less I worried about my appearance, the more immersed I became.” Ju Ji Hoon, Choo Young Woo, and Ha Young’s full interview and pictorial can be found in the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar Korea.
