Kim Sejeong Updates On I.O.I’s 10th Anniversary Plans

Singer and actress Kim Sejeong revealed her plans for I.O.I‘s 10th anniversary activities.

Kim Sejeong originally debuted in 2016 as part of the project girl group I.O.I., which is now approaching its 10th anniversary. She cautiously confessed, “I never really had the time to organize what kind of songs Kim Sejeong is good at or what I like. But by recording for a long period this time, it became a starting point for me to understand that.”

She added,

I think I’m quite smart about understanding myself. I approach things by thinking about how the market will work now and what I need to do to be liked. But thinking like that, whenever results didn’t come through, I blamed myself for everything. Looking back over 10 years, I realized that’s not the right way to approach it. If I just do what I like, even if people don’t love it, I can think, ‘I just need to be consistent.’ But since I was trying to cater to what others might like, I felt like I had nothing built inside me. So, I really want to do what I enjoy and build from within.

Laughing, Kim Sejeong said, “Going through the idol experience, a lot of that time accumulates. Because it’s a job that must be loved by the public, the approach can be a little different. What I regret most now is that I haven’t stood on the stage enough. When I attend concerts by my peers, the aura they give off on stage is truly amazing. Of course, I believe in myself, too, but I think I can’t achieve overnight what friends who have focused solely on the stage for 10 years have. So now, I want to think back on ‘What have I missed?’ In my twenties, I focused a lot on results and had a strong desire to be recognized.”

Additionally, regarding the group’s 10th anniversary in 2026, she said, “I.O.I’s 10th anniversary is next year, and we’re planning a meeting to come up with something as a group because there will surely be people waiting for us. We thought it would be nice to give a small gift. Nothing is confirmed yet, but we want to do as much as we can. We hope to give a gift to our fans as well.”
