Former Lovelyz member Mijoo revealed that she was scammed by her agency before debut. On December 19, Mijoo held a Q&A on her YouTube channel to celebrate reaching 100,000 subscribers.

Having recently left Antenna and signed with AOMG, Mijoo filmed the video at the AOMG building. She joked that it was shocking for everyone that she signed with a hiphop agency.

“Everyone was shocked. It is a hip-hop company, but I’m also the first artist of the new AOMG 2.0 era. I have to set a good tone as the first starter.”

When asked about the happiest moment of her life, Mijoo immediately chose Lovelyz’s debut.

“It was fiercely competitive. Just becoming a trainee was hard. Because it was an open audition, it was even more competitive. There were around 40 people, and people kept getting eliminated. Every monthly evaluation I wondered, ‘Can I really make it into that team?’ I had no confidence, so I was terrified of being cut.”

When asked if she had auditioned for other companies, Mijoo revealed a story she had never shared before. She had once been scammed by her previous company. After signing the contract, the company kept the trainees doing nothing.

“This is my first time saying this — when I was in high school, I auditioned for a new company. But it turned out to be a scam. They kept us sitting in the office all day and didn’t train us at all. They just made us sit there. But they kept saying they had invested money in us, so if we wanted to leave, we had to pay a penalty. It was so disgusting and petty that I paid the penalty and left.”

She ended up paying a fee to leave the company and break her contract. Afterwards, she saw success with Woollim Entertainment and made her debut. Watch her Q&A below!
