NJZ (NewJeans) Accused Of Plagiarizing LE SSERAFIM, Weeekly, And GFRIEND

New accusations have surfaced on social media accusing NJZ (also called NewJeans) of plagiarizing various girl groups.

In a new viral video, many of the group’s choreography overlaps with Weeekly, GFRIEND, and LE SSERAFIM, many of which had been done years or months in advance.

A post went viral showcasing the similarities.

Why did NewJeans go to the National Assembly audit? Shouldn’t it have been Weeekly instead?

In the comments, netizens debated whether the group was blatantly copying other idols or if it was coincidental overlap. Particularly, many mentioned how ILLIT does not deserve criticism over the accusations of “copying” NewJeans.

  • “The more NewJeans get dug into, the more stuff they copied—there’s seriously so much.”
  • “It’s literally exactly the same????????????????????????????????????????????????????”
  • “Wow, that’s insanely bad.”
  • “This is exactly why I never understood all the hate ILLIT got. Choreography is done by humans, and there are only so many possible moves—NewJeans’ choreo has overlapped with multiple artists and Weeekly several times, so why was only ILLIT beaten to death over it?”
  • “At this point, idol choreo has basically exhausted all possible moves, so overlaps are inevitable, but NewJeans fans are insanely stubborn about it. They conveniently ignore this and act like their case is different—pretending not to see itㅋㅋㅋ it’s ridiculousㅋㅋ”
  • “NewJeans’ producer is seriously shameless.”
  • “They’re downright malicious.”
