Will “Amazing Saturday” Disappear? Variety Show In Crisis Due To “Injection Auntie” Scandal

As the “injection auntie” scandal hit, a series of departures followed on variety show “Amazing Saturday.” Three cast members, Park Na Rae, SHINee‘s Key, and YouTuber Short Mouth Sun, left the show after getting wrapped up in the allegations.

After the latest departure of Short Mouth Sun on the 19th, the production team of Amazing Saturday officially stated to OSEN, “We respect Short Mouth Sun’s decision to suspend activities and will not have her participate in any future recordings.”

Regarding pre-recorded episodes,  they said, “We have already completed recordings for three weeks of broadcasts. The production team will do their best in post-production.” However, a replacement has not yet been decided. The production team added, “There is currently no replacement. We will inform you if there are any changes.”

The “injection auntie” scandal began with Park Na Rae and continued with SHINee’s Key and Short Mouth Sun one after another. All of them halted activities and left every variety show after the controversies broke out. Amazing Saturday saw three cast members declare their departure within just ten days.

Notably, Park Na Rae, SHINee’s Key, and Short Mouth Sun were original members who had been on Amazing Saturday since its first episode. Although eight cast members remain after their departure, the successive exits have sparked concerns about a possible crisis for the variety show.

Furthermore, as the prosecution has begun a full-scale investigation into Park Na Rae’s “injection auntie” case, there are growing worries that another figure may emerge, suggesting that the turmoil in the broadcasting industry is likely to continue.
